Five Great Social Media Valentine's Day Ideas

I'm back! Sorry for the lack of posts last week, but not gonna lie... I'm feeling really excited about the video project I'm working on. Can't wait to share it with you all in a few weeks.

In the meantime, today I'm going to share a few different Valentine's Day ideas that might help give you some ideas on what to do for your college's page. You know, in case you're anything like me and have no plan yet.  :)

Western Washington University - Free Hugs

Free hugs! I'll never not love videos like this.

Oklahoma State University - #OrangeCrush

I've actually written a post about this idea from Oklahoma State University, in which they gather stories from alumni about how they met on campus and fell in love. They are doing the promotion again this year - check out this page with all the details.

Rutgers University - Spontaneous Serenade

From what I can tell, this idea was done by students rather than the Rutgers social media team, which is totally awesome... it's got nearly 250,000 views! Know some outgoing kids who would be willing to do something like this? Give them a guitar and follow them around with a camera!

University of Portland - Rose Giveaway and Photobooth

Yes, yes... I'm totally cheating and sharing two ideas from UP. The first one - the above video with a student handing out 50 roses to random people - was done entirely by students with no knowledge whatsoever from me. It's pretty amazing.

I did, however, do this photobooth idea:

I wrote about this idea more in-depth here, but the gist of it is that we set up a photobooth in the main cafeteria the day before Valentine's, had a bunch of props, and invited anyone and everyone to get a pic taken. It was very popular - both while we were shooting it and with people tagging and sharing once we posted the gallery.
