Great Social Media Idea: Yearly Recap Video

Summer is always a tough time in #hesm, since it can be a struggle to generate lots of compelling content when campuses tend to go into a sort of hibernation for a few months. Lots of schools are just now entering summer, while some - like UP... has it really been almost six weeks since graduation?!?!? - are well into the thick of it.

One neat idea for really good and compelling summer content is a "Year in Review"-type video, like this one from Oklahoma State University. (Which, by the way, always does great videos... I've long admired the great shots they use in their TV commercials.)

What I particularly like about this is how it's entirely "found" footage and audio, taken from various events and other video projects from throughout the year. The audio at the front sounded like it was from an orientation event for new freshman, and the audio at the end sounded like it was from graduation... together, they provided a nice sense of completion of the experience of a year.

It has a nice mix of academics and athletics, "serious" stuff like fundraising success and building groundbreakings and "silly" stuff like ice bucket challenges and beauty pageants... something for everyone! Lots of beautiful aerial footage to go along with dramatic slow-mo shots and high-energy action shots... it's a feast for the eyes.

A project like this is a nice way to wrap up the year, and it's great content for students, alumni, and parents alike. Nice job, Oklahoma State!
